Fredricksburg, Texas

Updated: Jan 19, 2022

On our way to the Dixie Dude Ranch, we stopped at Fredricksburg, Texas. I wish we had more than a few hours here, but glad we got the chance to see it.

It was founded in 1846 by German Immigrants. Learn more about its history here.

They have more than 50 wineries here and many have wine tours you can take.

They are to have an amazing World War II Musuem and Japanese Garden of Peace here, but with limited time, we had to skip it.

We started at the Pioneer Museum. They have a gift shop, bathrooms, and a self guided tour and movie. MONDAY - SATURDAY 10AM-5PM. Each Thursday Sept. 30- Nov. 4 we close early at 4PM to host the Fall Farmers' Market. Kids can find Fredrick throughout the museum.

We parked along the main street and shopped at some of the cute places.

We first stopped at The Fredricksburg Winery. You can sample wines here and buy some. There is a chocolate store next door too! I bought a few bottles of their German Christmas Wine, Gluchwein.

They had a Hot Suace shop

We loved Leathers wih Sytle!. Look at this cute purse I got. Each side is different. Check in on FB and you get 10 percent off one item!

There are many places to eat, but noticed they have strange. days they are open and closed during the week (this may have been during covid time only, I am not sure).

My parents met in Germany so we wanted to eat at a German place. We found the Altdorf Biergarten. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We felt the food was good too!

Here are some other places to eat that were recommended:
