Marco Island, Florida

Updated: Feb 15, 2022

Where to stay:

We stayed at the JW Marco Island hotel.

When we walked in it reminded me of our hotel in Maui!

Our room

This place is huge and had a recent addition that includes an an adult only tower, huge arcade a rooftop adult only restaurant with a bar that over looks the beach.

Arcade

Adult only bar/restauraunt

The service here was amazing, even during times when many hotels were short staffed, they were not! We did room service one night and it was great!

They have 2 pools, lots of restaurants and they have golf cart service right to your chair on the beach.

They have cabanas you can rent. At the time of our visit, the only charge was that you have to spend $100 on food or drinks.

Make sure to watch a flame thrower dance at sunset.

As a Marriott rewards member my status got us 2 (we may have paid $10 a person, instead of the $35) breakfasts and the buffet was amazing!!

They have a little coffee pastry shop near the main lobby. There is free coffee near the breakfast buffet and the door to go out to the pool.

Places to eat:

Kane Tiki Bar (JW Marriott beach front)

Quinns (JW Marriott beach front)

Oyster Society We loved it here! Great food~

Marco Walk Plaza has a few places to eat and a few shops (Oyster Society is here)

Things we did:

Floating Turtle Cruises I wanted something fun and different to celebrate my mothers birthday when we visited Marco Island. I had seen these cute tikki hut boats and thought that would be fun. We rented it for 2 hours and at the time it was $300 for 3 of us for the 2 hours. There is a captain and he takes you around and tells you interesting facts.

They have bar stools on the boat but my 78 year old mom has bad knees so we brought a chair for her. They brought a bean bag for my son to sit on during the cruise. I sat on the bar stool. They have drinks for you on your voyage and they now have add ons like snack food you can order ahead.

We had a great time and they were great about trying to dodge a storm coming. They took us out the Keewaydin Island and we got to walk around and swim here. It was so cute when we were there an ice cream boat came and we bought ice cream!

I thought this was fun for all ages!! They were super friendly and very accomidating!

We ate at the Capri Fish House (see above) as this is where you board the boat. They were super nice here and great food!

Places to shop

Check back every Tuesday for a new fun place to take a family vacation!
