Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney World

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

Want to wake with the animals? Then Animal Kingdom Lodge is the place for you! We got a balcony view on the main side of safari but almost all rooms have a good view. On the balcony look for the pamphlet with info on the animals. They come out around feeding time which was around 9 am when we were there in the month of November.

When you check in make sure to get an actives schedule.

Here is my Packing list for a Disney Trip!

We loved staying here! There are two buildings to stay in. We stayed in Jambo which is the main building. The other one which houses Sanaa to eat and also lots of DVC. You can walk between the two buildings or they have a little van that goes back and forth from the front door of both.

When you arrive, you will find the interior has a dark feel to it, but we loved it. There is a gift shop on your right, straight ahead is a view of the safari area.

If you go up to the 5th floor you can walk over this neat bridge.

On the right where you entered is also where you can go to the pool. family area, and 2 more restaurants. Please check to see if these are open during covid!

They have a quick food place called The Mara near the pool.

Saana which is in the other building( you can take a van over or walk). This has views of the animals.

Boma- A buffet that has literally everything located downstairs in the main building.

Jiko- A more upscale place to dine across from Boma, but they do allow kids.

The pool I felt was nice and big and had a slide. They had a few kids activities at the pool area too.

At night time you can go out near the pool at attached to the fence are night vision goggles. They are tied to the fence so you have to use them there. You can sign up for a night vision tour safari from the other building but it books up months in advance so book now if you want to do that.

This hotel has a quick service place to get food, an arcade and a family game room. They have games in there for you to play with your child, free crafts, cupcake decorating class or some you crafts can purchase and do there.

If your child likes to pin trade outside the gift shop at I think 2:00, but check when you check in. You cal also ask at the gift shop and the family area and they will trade with you there.

This is my moms favorite place to stay at Disney! She loves having her coffee on the balcony and watch the animals.

They also have free smores (one per person). Go straight through the lobby down the steps by the big windows and out the door. I suggest you bring a bottle water with you to. They did have wipes there for us (pre-covid).

As always in this every changing world things can change from when we went so please check before going.
