I went with my son on a field trip here and we loved it!
There are a few different hiking trails that cross over each other along the river here. It is less crowded then some of the other places in Atlanta to hike. It is great for fishing ( with a license) and wildlife viewing.
It is open year round and has public restrooms.
Be sure to check out Hewett Lodge. There is a gift shop, little museum, and restrooms. They also sold water in there too I think. It was built in 1935 by an Attorney Samuel Hewett. It is now the National Park Services Headquarters. It is open 9-5.
There is a $5 parking fee
