Hunters Family Farm may be normally known as the Christmas Tree Farm, but this year they started hopefully another local tradition...... a sunflower field!
They have an amazing area, 10 acres, to walk around and look at the sunflowers. They have 4 varieties and some are over 10 feet tall!
When you first enter their property you will be greeted. It is $20 a car load.
They are open Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
After you pull in drive straight over the adorable water pond with ducks and geese to the parking area. You will see the roped area on the left to go at the fields. It is a little walk, but nice to look around as you do. The ground is uneven, like nature, so it may be hard for strollers with regular wheels.
When you get to the field, they have two tents. The first one has cute frames you can hold as photo props. They have wipes for you to wipe it with when you are done. They also had cute chalk boards you could write on.
There is a sign to watch for ants last year. There were some piles. Most have a white marking on it so you can see it. There is a first aid kit at that table if you need it. I posted pics of the ant piles so you can show your child.
There are also bees, because they love flowers , but if left alone they do’t bother you.
The field is open and in direct so bring water down with you. There is one tent with maybe 5 seats under it for a rest.
I loved how they had many premade photo prop areas: fences, truck, barrel, stools, hay stacks to stand or sit on. I was very impressed how they thought of so many spots.
I love how they have an aisle open so you can walk between the fields easily.
Back by your car you can buy t-shirts sunflowers and they have lemonade and water.
There was a porta pottie I saw up in this area too.
They did a great job of setting up the fields with the photo prop areas and it’s a place you won’t want to miss and hopefully make a family tradition!
When you drive here they are located on an unpaved road that has a 15 mph I think speed limit and you will pass runners and walkers. So please drive slowly. If you want to be on the unpaved road a shorter time enter them off Birmingham Hwy.
Here is a video they made in 2020 of a fly over of the area.
If you want a place to eat before or after check out 7 Acre BarnGrill or The Union Restaurant.
