High Country Outfitters Kayaking

Updated: Jun 2, 2022

Want to go kayak or stand up paddle board? Then check our High Country Outfitters.

Located about 30 mins from North Milton if you travel 400 with no traffic at 200 Morgan Falls Rd, Sandy Springs, GA 30350.

I encourage you to make a reservation ahead of time on line at to make sure you can get one. They do not take day of reservations. You just show up that day and hope they have one. Parking is limited.

My son and I always wear swim suits as he likes to get in the water if it is clean. Always check the E.coli levels for the water before you book. Here is the site to get the latest numbers.

The prices are in the pictures or check their website for current ones. We rented a kayak for 2 for one hour and it was $40. They have stand up paddle boards, and kayaks for 1 also.

Once you get there, check in and sign a waiver for your party. Everyone gets an oar and a life jacket. Under 13, they must wear it and adults must carry it. If over 13 they can rent their own kayak.

You will then walk a small distance with your oar down to the water. There they will give you your stand up paddleboard or kayak and help you in the water. I am a heavy set woman and they had no problem getting my son and I into the water, so do not worry.

I am not very athletic and this is easy to do, even when your child gets tired and doesn’t want to help.

Once in you go out on the water and go wherever you want. We usually go left as the right is shallow. There is more “life” on the left side too. You can see turtle’s, ducks, beavers, and others.

We have gone many times with friends and it makes it more fun.

Make sure to apply suntan lotion ahead of time. We wear water shoes, but have had friends lose a shoe there before. We bring a water proof bag with cold drinks and snacks and wipes to help hungry kids. I also suggest a hat. We carry the sun screen with us encase we need to reapply it.

My son likes to get out and swim and also go in the shallow area to “his island” and walk around.

Watch your time. I usually go out for 30 and then back. You may ant to set a timer as you can forget. Once close to dock, they will tell you how to come in and get off.

You will then walk your oar and life jacket back and check out. If it is a slow day, you can be longer than your hour and they will charge you when you get back.

We always bring a change of clothes and shoes change in the bathrooms after. There are no showers. We just rinse off in there.

Morgans Fall Park is here too, so you can play after!
