A Christmas Carol (Alliance Theatre)

Updated: Nov 20, 2022

I have seen A Christmas Carol perfromed many places around the world and one of my favorites is right here in Atlanta at the Allaince Theatre! It is also one of my husbands favorite holiday places to go.

I have seen this production many times and we started my son at the age of 3 seeing it, and he loved it. The main factor for that age was we needed to know if he would sit that long and he did. We showed him the Mickey version on DVD before we came. We also always did the afternoon show so he would not be tired.

This show is about 2.5 hours long with intermission at about an hour and a half. We saw many young children here. The play is not scary for young children except maybe the third ghost who comes down from the ceiling on the stage. I would also let your child know sometimes actors play more than one role.

The new set is amazing! It turns around so they can use it for multiple scenes.

They just added the new Coca Cola Stage. It cost $32 million dollars and moves the audience 15 feet closer to the stage. The seats are wider and very comfortable.

They have 2 sound proof rooms you can bring your child in if they are needing to move around more or being loud. You will still be able to see and watch the show from in there.

There are bathrooms upstairs at the top of the steps or on the Symphony side in the front of the building.

They do have a bar and sell some snacks and drinks, including water and soda too. You can eat/drink in the theatre during the performance.

They do have devices for those who can't hear well and they have booster seats near the door where they scan your ticket for children to see better. The ushers are so helpful, so feel free to ask one of them if you need help.

Parking/Marta

The Art Center Marta Station is behind the theatre and plenty of parking garages. I suggest you pre-purchase a parking spot on their website when you purchase your tickets!

Where to eat

There is a restaurant right here called Twelve Eighty click on it to see when we ate there or the new food hall across the street at Colonty Square, Politan Row.

We always love getting family pictures around the Christmas tree here in the lobby!

Other Places of Interest in the area:

The High Museum of Art is next door if you wanted to see art before or after the play.

Make sure to check back each Friday and Saturday when I post another Family Fun place around the ATL. Check us out on Facebook or Instagram
